World Mental Health Day - Margate 2025
Thanks to the talent and creativity of our members and staff, this year’s World Mental Health Day was our best yet.
Held in Margate, the event brought together our community in a vibrant celebration of mental health awareness, emotional expression, and collective care. From powerful personal stories to joyful creative workshops, every moment reflected the courage, humour, and heart that define our CIC.
We’re proud to have created a space where people felt seen, heard, and valued. Whether you joined us in person or supported from afar, thank you for being part of a day that reminded us: mental health is not just a conversation—it’s a community.
The Baton of Hope - Margate 2025

On 22 September, SpeakUp members and staff stood in Thanet as part of the Baton of Hope 2025—the UK’s largest suicide prevention tour.
The Baton passed through Kent and Medway that day, carried by over 130 local residents. It moved through Folkestone, Sheppey, Maidstone, Canterbury, and Thanet—ending with an ‘Evening of Hope’ at Dreamland in Margate.
Thanks to everyone who turned up. We were part of the Baton of Hope—part of the wider push to make suicide prevention visible, local, and something people can actually reach.

Alone sat a star,
in a universe of dreams.
Waiting to be discovered
she sat and waited.
Along came an astronomer,
and named her one day.
Now the world knows her
and she watches with glee.

“When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
