About us
What we do

SpeakUpCIC provides a range of peer support groups and activities for people with lived experience of mental ill health in Thanet and Ashford. As an independent organisation our work is supported, informed, developed and delivered by people who have a real understanding of what it is like to live with mental health challenges. Through different activities and forums, people can share their experiences and views of mental health services in a safe and confidential environment, either individually or within a group.

SpeakUpCIC group facilitators and service user representatives present these views and concerns (anonymously, if desired) to the service providers, commissioners and decision makers responsible for planning and providing mental health services. This enables service users and people within the wider community to have their voices heard and become involved in helping to develop local services with a view to ensuring that people are provided with the necessary support they want and need to help improve their mental health and wellbeing.

As a Service User led organisation we have a clear mission.

Our mission is:

To ensure that the voice of the people is listened to, heard and valued. Who better to know what people want and need than the experts by experience.

People start to heal when they are heard and SpeakUpCIC

is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be listened to.

We have a strong set of core values that inform all of the work that we do.

Our Core values include:

The belief that all Service Users and Survivors have a right to be treated with dignity and respect.

By working together we can create a culture of hope, support and recovery that embodies a belief in people's own ability to manage change and improve the quality of their lives by helping to improve mental health and wellbeing.

We strive to create communities free from stigma and discrimination where people respect and support each other.
